The findings, published in the IWF’s latest Annual Data & Insights Report, draw on reports from the public, industry and law enforcement, alongside the IWF’s own proactive search activity, to provide a comprehensive picture of how child sexual abuse material is created, distributed and monetised, as well as the systemic conditions that allow it to persist across the internet’s infrastructure.
Above all, the report is an urgent call to action for industry partners, tech companies, regulators and governments to join together, and take coordinated action across the system to help bring online child sexual abuse to an end.

The guide is designed to make difficult conversations easier and more regular.

UK schools and colleges, who are leaders in global child safeguarding, have been working towards six core digital technology standards since 2022, broadband, wireless networks, network switching, digital leadership and governance, filtering and monitoring, and cyber security. Since the start of this academic year, the Department for Education's expectations have sharpened, with the 2025 Academy Trust Handbook now using explicit language requiring trusts to be actively working towards meeting all six by 2030.
